The idea behind the membership
I found as a pilates teacher, a mum and the home administrator, that I never had enough time to get a full pilates workout done. Usual mat classes are 45-60 minutes. I would get about 10 minutes in and their attention would wane and in they would waltz. I don’t know about your kids but me lying on the floor signals that it’s time for wrestling and fun. The next five minutes would involve trying to do the exercises with them involved and regularly removing them from my chest, or head or pelvis. Eventually, it would get too hard and I would turn it off and go about our usual daily activities. I would feel disheartened every time this happened and often not try again for a few weeks.
One particularly tough day, the words of a mentor popped into my head. She told me that 10-minutes of pilates 2-3 times a day can add up to several hours per week. I committed to trying to fit in just 10 minutes of pilates every other day. I would set an alarm, sit the boys in front of the tv and just move. It wasn’t as much as I would have liked but over time I felt my strength was increasing and my overall mood after moving was always better. They are finally getting to an age now where they try to replicate the moves and it’s actually possible to do a little bit more sometimes. Other days, 10 minutes is it but it’s better than nothing. I still feel the additive benefit of moving my body in a smart and specific way.
I also noticed that I was often giving studio clients exercises to do at home to keep the momentum going in between sessions. I pondered during a few wakeful evenings … What if there was a way to break down pilates so that people could master it at home, build strength and feel great in short ‘doable’ sessions? Could I teach pilates in a way that it was accessible to all of the clients that couldn’t get to the studio and could I still create the welcoming atmosphere that I have in the studio? An so, after lots of tinkering and experimenting, I finally have this membership to share with you all. I hope that you find it helps you to get more movement into your days and that you enjoy all of the classes on here.
